Tamedia investing in start-up gebraucht.de
Zurich, 14 December 2017 – Tamedia has invested in the German start-up gebraucht.de, an innovative and transaction-based online marketplace for second-hand articles. With this investment, Tamedia, with its classifieds and marketplace platforms, expects to benefit from the know-how and the experience in transaction management and shipping of the Berlin-based start-up. At the same time, the Swiss media group will provide its extensive experience to support gebraucht.de in this field.
gebraucht.de offers a full and integrated transaction solution: The buyers decide what products they wish to purchase and select one of the payment options. The product is subsequently delivered directly to the buyer by a shipping agent. The buyer is able to continuously track the shipment and gebraucht.de will not release the payment until the buyer has inspected the merchandise. The sellers are urged to ship the merchandise within a timeframe of approximately 48 hours.
Aside from Tamedia, the publishing company Müller Medien AG of Germany is the lead investor in the start-up, in addition to other German business angels. gebraucht.de is headquartered in Berlin and employs a staff of around 30. The company had more than 100,000 app downloads within just a few weeks.
