Tamedia and Book A Tiger at the START Summit start-up conference

Zurich, 29 February 2016 – The Swiss media group Tamedia is supporting the start-up conference of the University of St. Gallen on 18/19 March as a partner. The conference will be held for the fifth time and offers workshops, keynotes and backgroundsessions to students and founders of start-ups serving as an important platform to share knowledge and the opportunity to meet investors. Around 1,500 participants are expected this year, including approximately 300 start-up founders, 800 students and over 100 investors.

 

At the conference, Tamedia Digital and Book A Tiger, an agency for cleaning staff, one of the most successful start-ups in Europe and also a minority investment of Tamedia, will provide a workshop to jointly demonstrate the important aspects of an investment process from the perspectives of the start-up and the investor. The workshop will be conducted by Lorenz Lüchinger, M&A and Investment Manager at Tamedia, and Ulrich Lewerenz, one of the three Managing Directors of the Book A Tiger group and Managing Director of the Swiss subsidiary Book A Tiger Switzerland. “We would like to reach out more to young, creative people and also assist them with our know-how of investing in start-ups. START Summit is one of the most important start-up conferences in Switzerland and an optimal opportunity for this. The conference also allows us to look for interesting trends and ideas and search for profiles for our recruitment platform”, explains Lorenz Lüchinger of Tamedia. Andreas Schlenker, Head of M&A and Projects at Tamedia Digital, is a member of the jury of the Start Summiteer competition, where selected start-ups present their ideas to a panel of judges and have the chance of winning a prize of CHF 10,000.          

 

The keynote speakers at the conference are professionals from various fields, such as Tom Mueller, CTO of SpaceX, the aerospace company of businessman Elon Musk, and Bibop Gresta, COO of Hyperloop Transportation Technologies. A “hack” will be additionally held one week before the conference, where 200 talented students from different technical disciplines and various countries will be programming for 40 hours in relation to the topics of FinTech, Mobility and Internet of Things.
