Starticket merging with ticketportal
Zurich, 21 January 2016 – Ticket marketer Starticket is taking over the Swiss ticketing activities of the software company ticketportal. With this, Starticket is strengthening its position as the strong Number Two in Switzerland's ticketing market and provides an additional range of services and products from one source. Christoph Brand, Head of Tamedia Digital, is pleased: “The merger with ticketportal is building on the previous success of the existing cooperation between Starticket and ticketportal and allows us to further optimise the activities of the two companies and adjust them to the needs of the Swiss event organisers”. The two ticket marketing companies will increase their existing cooperation due to this merger and subsequently make the sales process for clients even more efficient. “The merger of the two Swiss companies is a logical next step coming from an already successful cooperation,” says a pleased Dieter Fröhlich, CEO and former owner of ticketportal.
Peter Hürlimann, CEO of Starticket, will take over the lead of the combined company until a successor is appointed. Dieter Fröhlich will step down as CEO. Peter Hürlimann and Dieter Fröhlich will both be joining the Board of Directors and also remain as stakeholders of the company.
ticketportal, based in St. Gallen, is specialising in custom-made ticketing sales concepts in the B2B sector for organisers and, as such, the market leader in Switzerland. As early as February 2014, the ticket marketing company Starticket, a 75% subsidiary of the media group Tamedia of Switzerland, entered a partnership with ticketportal in the B2C sales channel. In the process, Starticket took over the sale to end customers for its Swiss event clients.
JetTicket Software GmbH, based in Austria, is not affected by this transaction and continues to be owned by the current owner. Starticket will only take over the sales of JetTicket for Switzerland, similar to tickeportal now.
