Tamedia constitutes an Advisory Board for Digital Development
Zurich, October 7, 2013 – The Swiss Media Group Tamedia has established an Advisory Board for Digital Development. The Board's mission is to give advice and support the digital transformation of the company. Composed of experienced experts in the field of digital media, online business and digital technology, the Advisory Board shall anticipate trends, reflect on digital opportunities and provide an external perspective on strategic investments or alliances.
The following personalities have been appointed as members of the Advisory Board: Markus Gross, professor for digital media technologies at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich) and director of Disney Research Zurich, Mathias Müller von Blumencron, Editor-in-Chief Digital Media of «Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung» and former Co-Editor-in-Chief of «Der Spiegel», Sverre Munck, former Executive Vice-President of Norway's Schibsted Media Group responsible for Strategy and International Editorial, and Thomas Sterchi, inter alia the founder of jobs.ch, the leading online job portal in Switzerland now belonging to Tamedia and Ringier. The Advisory Board, which will meet three times a year, will work together with the Business Development Committee and will be chaired by Pietro Supino, Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Tamedia, a leading Swiss media company founded in 1893, reported growing digital revenues in the first half of 2013. The Digital business division saw its revenues jump by 81.1 per cent from CHF 61.8 million to CHF 111.9 million, accounting for 21 per cent of total revenues and roughly a quarter of the profit. The company's goal is to further invest in the digital sector over the coming years as well as to develop it's existing digital activities.
